Shopp: Unusual Image Path
May 16th, 2011 by DavidI recently was digging into Shopp. An e-commerce plugin for WordPress. For the life of me I could not determine what was the cause of the images not displaying. They would upload no problem and display in the back-end, however, when I would view the product page none of the images would appear. After inspecting the paths, I noticed they were some numbers and commas and no extension. Frustrated I began researching on the Shopp forum and through Google only to finally land upon a page that noted the auth keys in wp-config.php.
I cracked it open, commented it out, saved.. and it worked. So, I reset the auth keys and removed some of the weird characters.. specifically backslashes, spaces, etc. Bingo.. good to go.
The Phraseology Project
May 14th, 2011 by DavidIf you’re a fan of beautiful and interesting type, then I command you to check out The Phraseology Project. Put together by justlucky and bitmanic, it’s a simple site that allows users to submit phrases. They then review the submissions, select one from the long list and design them into typographical pieces of art. Pretty rad.
Valentiger – Oh, to know!
May 14th, 2011 by DavidI’ve been really digging Valentiger’s album, “Oh, to know!”. Their previous album was great, but everything on here just seems to be at an entirely new level.. from production, to song-writing, to arrangement, to variety. It’s truly a great piece of music and no.. not just because I know the guys.
I got carried away designing while enjoying one of their tracks, “Sunshines Through”.
T-Shirt Design: Laura Slater
May 14th, 2011 by DavidWe love our midwife. We’re having an appreciation event for her in several weeks, and in preparation for that I wanted to come up with a cool t-shirt design showing her some love.
Of course I wanted something that was cool, and not overly symbolic of birthing/midwifery… but something that could directly relate to Laura. So, what did I come up with.. a teepee of all things. Yes, you may not know this… but Laura once lived in a teepee. So, it works out being a bit of an inside joke, but also is symbolic of traditions and american spirit.
Planning to get the screen burned soon, so we can get to work. Just have to find time and motivation.
TGIF
April 22nd, 2011 by DavidSo, it has been awhile… and this update is only going express my thankfulness for it being Friday. So… without further ado… TGIF.
Busy, busy, busy…
December 1st, 2010 by DavidSo, I’ve totally neglected my site. I assumed when leaving Spearia that I would be able to devote a little more time to personal projects (including this site), however, things are busy as ever at ddm. With eight current projects (and half due before, or very near, the end of the year) I don’t have time for much of anything.
In addition, I have a couple minor projects on the side I’ve been trying to work on and take part in… but with Amy and I are expecting our third at the end of the month it feels like a lot. It’s surprising I’m even getting around to post this blog.
I’m looking forward to the arrival of Elliott #3 and almost equally as excited to get some of this work off my plate.
Time to get back to work… my next entry will be interesting, I promise.
ddm marketing & communications
October 8th, 2010 by David
I recently left Spearia to take a job with the good folks at ddm marketing & communications and today marks my first full week. It’s been great to jump right into things… some of it very similar in nature to things I did at Spearia and some different.
It’s also very refreshing to have each project assigned a project manager and an account manager, not to mention an interactive manager who helps coordinate it all. Things seem so much more organized in that regard.
Obviously in my first week everything is still very new and I’m still getting my feet wet, but I’m looking forward to once the projects really get rolling. However, I will admit, even in my first week I have been missing being able to design… I think that’ll be the toughest part to give up.
Cheers!
